How do I read and use the News Feed?
Open News Feed under Students to read your school's short posts, favorite or save them, filter by category and search.
Last updated 2026-11-06
Open News Feed in the left menu, right under Students. It shows short posts from your school, newest first.
Available when your school turns on the News Feed. If you do not see it, your school has not enabled it yet.
Read posts
Scroll to load older posts. A post can have a category label and up to eight photos. Tap a photo to see it larger. On the web, a "new post" pill appears at the top when something newer has been posted. Select it to refresh. In the app, pull down to refresh.
Favorite and save
- Select the heart to favorite a post. You see how many people favorited it, but never who. Not even school administrators can see who.
- Select the bookmark to save a post. In the app, the bookmark in the toolbar opens your saved posts.
Report a post
If a post worries you, you can report it. On the web, select the flag under the post. In the app, press and hold the post (or swipe it) and choose Report this post. Pick a reason, add a note if you like, and send. Only your school's administrators see the report, and who sent it; nobody else in the school is told. You can report the same post only once, and you cannot report your own posts.
Filter and search
Above the posts are chips: All, one for each category, and Other for posts with no category. Select a chip to show only those posts. In the Search posts box, type a word and select Search. In the app, News Feed posts also appear in the whole-school search.
Good to know
- Only people your school has allowed can write posts. Everyone else reads, favorites and saves.
- In the app, posts you already loaded stay readable offline, and a quiet "You're offline" note appears.
- You can choose which News Feed categories send you a push. See the related article.
- Photos are shrunk and stripped of location information before anyone sees them.
