How do I send and track permission slips?

Go to Manage Permission Slips (/permission-slips/admin).

From the School Administrator manual, "Permission Slips".

Go to Manage Permission Slips (/permission-slips/admin).

Click + Add Permission Slip, fill in the details and a "required by" date, and optionally scope it to an Audience (leave blank for every student at the school). The body uses the same formatting toolbar as Notices (Notices) — headings, lists, and bold text all show up correctly both on-screen and in the downloaded PDF. For each of their children the slip targets, a parent answers Yes or No (a parent can say no, for example to a field trip they do not want their child to attend, and may add an optional reason), then taps Submit. A parent can change any answer until the slip closes — a couple of days after its required-by date — and the answer that stands at that point is the final one; after that the slip is read-only for them.

  • Responses — click the "granted, denied" summary next to any slip to open its response page. It shows three counts — Granted, Denied and No response — and a list of every student the slip targets. Denials are listed first, highlighted in red with the reason the parent gave (if any), then students with no response yet, then granted ones. You are not notified when a parent denies permission; this page is where you see it. (A student whose family has not answered yet counts under No response; the slip's own list page only shows granted/denied counts.)
  • PDF — generates a print-ready PDF of the slip (Letter size by default), with your formatting intact, for a family that needs a physical copy; an A4 version is also available if you need it for an international/non-US audience. A long slip spans multiple pages rather than losing content, and a wide table shrinks its own text to stay readable instead of running off the page. A parent's copy also lists each of their own students by name with Permission: YES, Permission: NO (with the reason, if given) or UNDETERMINED (no answer yet); an admin who is not a parent of a targeted student gets the slip without that list. Hebrew works in the PDF: a Hebrew school name, title, body, table, student name or reason prints as real Hebrew, right to left (a Hebrew paragraph is right-aligned, and lines mixing Hebrew with English or numbers keep each part readable). Other non-Latin alphabets (Arabic, Cyrillic, Chinese, ...) are not supported in PDFs yet and print as ? for those characters; the web page itself shows them normally.
  • Edit / delete as with other content types.

SwiftUI app: Admins see a + button on the Permission Slips tab to create a new slip (same Title/Body/Audience/Required-by fields as the web form; the Required-by date can't be before today). This is the only Permission Slips capability the native app has — editing or deleting an existing slip is web-only; opening an existing slip in the app always shows the same parent-facing "respond and view PDF" screen everyone else sees, with no pencil icon or delete option, even for an admin. As an admin you can open every slip at your school this way, including one whose Audience doesn't include your own children (the screen simply lists no children to answer for; the PDF still downloads). Use /permission-slips/admin on the web for any change to a slip you've already created.
