From the School Administrator manual, "Directory Map".
/directory-map shows a school-wide map of every visible student's address, with grade filters for the grades your students are in (teal chips: the one that is on is solid with a check mark) —
useful for carpool planning or general community awareness. Brothers and sisters at the same address
share one pin showing how many students live there; click it to see each child with a View Profile
link. This is a read/view feature; there's no
separate admin configuration beyond the addresses themselves being accurate (see
The Student Roster).
Mapping just one group
You can also open the map narrowed to a single group instead of the whole school. A Map link appears in three places, and each opens the same map showing only that group's students:
| Where | What the map shows |
|---|---|
| An Organization's page, beside its Roster heading | That organization's roster |
| A saved list's page | That list's members |
| Starred Students | The students you have starred |
The link only appears when the group actually has students in it. Once you're on a scoped map, a ← Back link returns you to the group you came from, and the map's title tells you what you're looking at (for example, "Chess Club Map").
Two things worth knowing:
- Privacy still applies. A family who has opted out of sharing their address is left off a scoped map exactly as they're left off the school-wide one. Opening a group's map never reveals a pin you couldn't already see. (As an admin you see every address either way — see The Student Roster.)
- Lists are personal. A list's map shows your list. Other admins can't open it, and starred maps only ever show your own stars.
On the iPhone/iPad/Mac app the same three entry points appear as a small map button in the toolbar
- a group's scoped map always opens in its own window on Mac. The school-wide Directory Map (tapped from the sidebar, not a scoped group map above) is different: on iPad, it opens alongside the sidebar in a dedicated wide view instead of covering the whole screen; on Mac, single-clicking it shows that same wide view in the main window, and double-clicking it opens the map in its own separate window instead.
