# Why can't I edit students or school settings as staff?

Staff access is read-only by design. Ask a school administrator to make changes to students, the roster or who has access.

Staff access is read-only by design. You can browse the directory, but only school administrators can change it. If something needs to change, ask your school office.

## What staff cannot do

- Add, edit, archive or delete students or parents.
- Import the roster.
- Invite people or manage who has access.
- Change school settings.
- Write or manage notices, polls, permission slips, documents, menus or calendar events.
- Manage staff directory entries.

These screens are hidden from your menu or do not offer any editing controls.

## What to do instead

- A wrong address, phone number or parent name: tell the school office. A school administrator can fix it.
- A missing student or family: the same, since the school controls who is in the directory.
- Needing more access, for example to help run the directory: ask a Senior Admin at your school. Administrators have their own tools.

## Good to know

- Read-only access keeps family information safe, because only a small number of people can change it.
- Administrators see more than staff do. For example, administrators see every parent's contact details, while staff see them only when the parent allows it.
- Your school can make one person a staff member and a parent. That person has the parent tools for their own children.
