# How do I use stars, notes and lists?

Star students to find them fast, add a private note, and group students into your own lists. All of it is private to you.

Stars, notes and lists are your own tools for keeping track of classmates and friends. Nobody else, including other parents and school staff, sees them.

## Stars

Select the star on any student row, or on the student's page, to star them. Select it again to remove the star. Your starred students are listed under **Starred** in the **Lists** section of the left menu.

## Notes

1. Open a student's page.
2. Find the **My Note** card and type your note, for example "Allergic to peanuts, check before the party."
3. Select **Save**.

Clear the text and save to remove the note. The note is one free-form field per student, and only you can read it.

## Lists

A list is a group of students you choose, such as "Birthday party" or "Carpool."

1. In the left menu, select the **+** next to **Lists** and give the list a name.
2. Open a student's page and use the **Lists** section to add that student to a list. Select the **x** on a list's pill to remove them.
3. Open **Lists** in the menu to see, rename or delete your lists.

When a list is open, a **Map** link shows only that list's students on the map, if they have addresses you can see.

## Good to know

- Your changes save on your device first and send to the server when you are connected, so you can star and write notes offline in the app.
- If you delete your account, your private stars, notes and lists are removed with it.
- Other parents cannot see what you starred or wrote.
