*From the School Administrator manual, "The Student Roster".*

The roster is the app's home page (`/`) — every enrolled student, searchable by student name, graduation year, or any visible parent's name, email or phone (the same as the iPhone/iPad/Mac app) and filterable
by grade. Under the search box is a row of grade chips: **All** (purple), then **Kindergarten** and **Grade 1** to **Grade 12**, each in that grade's color. Click a chip to show only that grade (it fills in and shows a check mark) and click it again, or **All**, to clear it; your search text stays. Each student row shows their photo or colored initials, their parents' names, address and a grade label in the grade's color. Your own child's row, if you have one, has a faint tint and a **Linked** label. The star on a row stars or unstars the student for you.

**The sidebar on the web.** The left-hand sidebar has one colored icon per area, the same colors as the iPhone/iPad/Mac app (for example Notices red, Calendar blue, Staff Directory orange, Organizations rust, Classes viridian green, Departments deep green). The page you are on is highlighted in its own color and in bold. A small colored number next to **Polls**, **Permission Slips** or **Sign-Ups** means something is waiting for you (it shows `99+` above 99). **Lists** has a **+** button to create a new list. On a phone, the sidebar opens from the menu button at the top left.

**To add one student:**
1. Click **Add Student**.
2. Fill in First name and Last name (required), Graduation Year (pick from the dropdown, shown as
"Grade 12 (Class of ####)" down to "Kindergarten (Class of ####)"), and an optional Address.
3. Add one or more parents/guardians in the Parents section of the form — each with an email, which
is what lets that parent register and see their child.
4. Click **Add Student**.

**To see or change which organizations a student is on:** open the student's page. The **Organizations** section
(directly above **Lists**) shows one pill per organization whose roster the student is on. Click the **x** on a pill
and confirm to remove them; click **+ Add to organization** and pick one to add them. This is the same as editing the
organization's own roster, just from the student's side. (Organization Editors you have granted see the same **x** and
**+** for their own organizations only; everyone else sees the pills read-only.) If the change can't be saved, an
error appears under the pills and nothing changes. Your own **Lists** section below it works the same way, as pills.

**What a student's page looks like.** The top of the page is a colored panel with the student's large photo (or colored initials), their name, a grade pill and a "Class of" pill, plus **Edit** and the star. Below it are separate cards: **Address**, **Parents** (each parent shows their relationship as a small pill and their phone and email as large tappable buttons), **My Note**, **Organizations**, **Classes** (when your school uses them) and **Lists**. A staff member's page has the same colored panel with their email and phone as tappable buttons.

**To edit a student:** click their name from the roster, then use the inline editor on their page —
name, grade, address, and photo all save in place. For parent management, allowlist changes, and
privacy toggles, click **Manage parents & privacy** at the bottom of the student's page (admin
only), which opens the fuller edit page covering:
- The student's core fields (name, grade, address) with a **Save** button. The grade list offers
Kindergarten through Grade 12 (the same list appears when you edit the grade on a student's own
page). A graduated student (Alumni) shows their class as the first choice and keeps it when you save.
- **Home address privacy** — whether other parents (not the family, not admins) can see this
  family's address and map pin.
- **Parents** — add/edit/remove parent entries (name, email, phone, title such as Mom, Dad or Grandparent). A wrong title from an import can be corrected here; parents can also correct their own title from their account page or when they edit their child. **Remove parent** on
a parent who has already registered also removes their link to this student, so they lose access
to the student's details right away. (The next roster import that still lists that parent for this
student adds them back; to keep them off, remove them in your school information system as well.) Each parent entry has its own
**Contact visibility** toggle (whether other parents can see that specific guardian's email/phone).
Only Junior and Senior Admins always see every parent's email and phone: staff roles such as
Teacher, Counselor, Support Staff, Front Office Staff and School Leader see a parent's email/phone
only when that parent's **Contact visibility** is on (their name still shows).
Adding a parent whose email already has staff/admin access at your school never changes their
role — it just links them to this student too, and tells you they already have access.

**To archive or delete a student:**
- **Archive student** removes them from the active roster without deleting their record — use this
for a student who's left the school but you want to keep on file. The same button becomes
  **Unarchive student** afterward.
- **Delete student** is permanent. A confirmation dialog appears before it goes through.
