*From the School Administrator manual, "School Settings".*

Open to any admin (`/school-settings`) — School Logo, School Information, Phone Numbers, and Office
Hours can be edited by a Junior Admin or Senior Admin (a Junior Admin also sees the **School Theme**,
read-only). **School Theme**, **Map Coordinates**, **Features**, **Lunch
Image Style**, **Data Export**, and the **Danger Zone** ([Clearing the Roster (Danger Zone)](/help/admins/clear-the-roster))
below are Senior Admin only.

**SwiftUI app:** the same sections are available on iPhone/iPad/Mac from a **School Settings**
row in the sidebar, directly below the School Roster section (only visible if you're an admin) —
Junior Admins see the first four sections; Map Coordinates and Features stay Senior Admin only,
matching the web app exactly. The Office Hours section is labeled **School Hours** here — same
fields and behavior, just a different name. A seventh section, **Lunch Image Style** (Senior Admin
only), is available in the SwiftUI app only for now — see below. On Mac, single-clicking **School
Settings** shows it alongside the sidebar in the main window (same wide view iPad uses);
double-clicking opens it in its own separate window instead — close that window and the main
roster window keeps whatever you had selected before.

## School Logo
Click **Add logo** (or **Replace logo** if one already exists). Accepts JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG,
or PDF, up to the size shown on the page. JPEG/PNG/WebP/GIF go through a square crop tool first; SVG
and PDF upload as-is (SVG renders natively; PDF gets a crisp vector rendering across the app). An SVG
that contains scripts or other active content (for example event handlers or script links) is
refused with a message; export a plain SVG from your design tool, or upload a PNG or PDF instead.
An SVG saved with Illustrator's older **Save As** (which writes entity declarations) is refused too:
use **File > Export > Export As > SVG** in Illustrator, or upload a PNG or PDF. The
new logo appears immediately in the nav bar and here, with no page reload needed.

## School Theme *(Senior Admin edits; Junior Admins see it read-only)*
Choose your school's colors. Pick one to three: the **primary color** (buttons, the header bar, links
and pills), an optional **secondary color** (the faint background and card tints), and an optional
**highlight color** (small "new" badges). Type a hex value like `#2e7fcb`, or use the color picker.
If your school has a logo, suggested colors from it appear as small swatches — click one to use it
for the color you last edited. You can also click any spot on your logo to use that color, and in
Chrome-based browsers there is a **Pick a color from the screen** eyedropper.

The page shows a live preview in **light and dark mode** and tells you, as soon as you choose, when a
color won't behave the way you might expect. For example, a pale yellow works well as a button color,
but it's too light to read as link text, so links will use a darker shade of it — the note says so
and offers **Use the closest accessible shade** to switch your color to that shade in one click.
Nothing changes for your community until you click **Save theme**; **Reset to default** puts back the
standard look.

Once saved, the theme applies across the web app for everyone at your school — the header bar takes your
primary color (with text that always stays readable), buttons, links and pills follow it, and the page
background and cards carry a faint tint — in both light and dark mode. Sign-in and sign-up pages, and
warning/error colors, always keep the standard look. Organizations can have their own color too (see
the Organizations section); an organization's page then gets a tinted header band and its own accent.

## School Information
Editable fields covering the same details shown on your school's public "School
Details" page in the Document Library — editing the address automatically re-geocodes it.

## Phone Numbers
Add labeled phone numbers beyond the main contact number — e.g. a separate attendance line or
nurse's office extension.

## Office Hours
Set your office's open/close time for each day of the week; check **Closed** for any day the office
doesn't operate. The open time must be earlier than the close time (an open and close at the same
minute is refused), and times are hours and minutes, for example 08:00.

## Class Schedule *(Junior and Senior Admins; only when Classes are on)*
Under **School Settings -> Class Schedule -> Manage Class Schedule** (there is also a **Manage Class Schedule** button at the top of Classes & Departments) you tell Flux how your school day works, so families can see each student's classes by period and clock time.

- **School Days.** Tick the days of the week your school holds classes. The usual Monday to Friday is already set; a school with Sunday classes just ticks Sunday. Calendar weeks always start on Sunday. Click **Save School Days**.
- **Bell Schedules.** A bell schedule is your list of periods and when each one starts and ends (for example Homeroom 8:20 to 8:30, Period 1 8:35 to 9:20, Lunch 12:15 to 12:45). Press **New Bell Schedule** under your existing schedules, give it a name, then fill in one row per period: the period's name, its type (class period, lunch, assembly and so on) and its start and end times. New periods start at 8:30 AM so there is always a time to save; change them as needed. Press **+ Add Period** under the rows for another (it starts where the previous one ended) or **Remove** to drop one, and a row with no name is ignored. Your first bell schedule becomes the **default**, which every school day uses unless a day rule says otherwise. Click **Save New Schedule** to save a new one, or **Save Bell Schedule** to change an existing one. You can add other bell schedules too, for example **Early release**, giving the periods the same names as your normal day so classes follow them. To make a different schedule the default, tick **Make this the default**. The default schedule cannot be deleted; delete any other with **Delete**, which also removes the day rules that used it.
- **Day Rules.** A day rule picks a different bell schedule for certain days: every Wednesday, every second Wednesday (for example early release for staff development, counting from the week of a date you choose), or one date. A single date beats a repeating rule, and a school closure always wins. Fill in **Add a day rule** and click **Add Day Rule**; use **Edit** under a rule to change it (the form opens already filled in; click **Save Day Rule**) or **Delete** to remove it. Above the rules, a month calendar shows which bell schedule every school day will use: each bell schedule has a symbol, listed above the month, and days that differ from your default are highlighted. Use the arrows to move between months; it updates each time you add or delete a rule. School closures are not shown on it.

- **Seeing any student's schedule.** In the phone app (27.2 and later) Junior and Senior Admins can open the schedule of any student in the school, even one they are not linked to. On a student's page, press **Schedule** at the bottom of the **Classes** list; or open **Schedule** in the sidebar and press **Find a Student** (the person-and-magnifier button, or the **Find a Student** button shown when you have no students of your own), then search by first or last name. The student's schedule opens as read-only; it never replaces your own family schedule or your Home Screen widgets. A red line across the schedule marks the current time.
- **Importing one class's schedule.** On a class's own page, **Meeting schedule -> Import from a file** takes a CSV with one row per meeting pattern: `weekdays` (Mon;Wed;Fri), a `period` or a `start_time` and `end_time`, and optionally `location`, `starts_on` and `ends_on`. You see a preview first; the same days and times update that pattern instead of duplicating it. It only ever touches this class: rows for another class are refused. Admins and the class's Editors can do it.
- **Families are told about changes.** When you add, change or cancel a class meeting that falls within the next 14 days, the parents of the class's students get a notification (and a push on the phone app). Several edits to the same class within ten minutes send one notice. Changes further away are not announced, and neither is a bulk import or a bell-schedule period change.
- **Classes follow their period.** When you add a meeting pattern to a class (on the class's own page) you can choose a **Period** from your default bell schedule instead of typing times. A class tied to a period moves with it: if you later change that period's times here and save the default bell schedule, every class tied to the period is moved to the new times. A meeting someone edited by hand keeps its own time. Renaming a period breaks the tie for the classes that used the old name, so change times rather than names when you can.

Only Junior and Senior Admins see this page, and only while Classes are on. Parents never see it.

## Map Coordinates *(Senior Admin only)*
Shows how many students have a full address but are missing map coordinates (e.g. imported before
geocoding was set up), with a button to re-geocode them.

## Features *(Senior Admin only)*
One row per platform feature — **Lunch Menus**, **Document Library**, **Directory Map**,
**Calendar**, **Notices**, **Permission Slips**, **Polls**, **Staff Directory**, **Organizations** —
each with a checkbox. **No Save button**: checking or unchecking saves immediately, and a brief
**Saved** confirmation appears next to it. If the save fails, the checkbox goes back to how it was and a
short error appears next to it; try again. Turning a feature off hides its whole section from your
school's nav for everyone (parents and other admins) — it does **not** delete any of that feature's
existing data, so re-enabling it brings everything back exactly as it was.

**Classes** and **Departments** appear in this list only after Flux has made them available to your
school (ask your Flux contact). Until then you won't see them at all. Once available, each has its own
checkbox, off by default, and nothing about classes or departments shows anywhere until you check it.

## Time Zone *(Senior Admin only)*
Pick your school's time zone (it starts as America/New_York). School-local dates and scheduled jobs —
such as a class's end-of-term reset — use it. Choose the zone from the list and click **Save**.

## Lunch Image Style *(Senior Admin only)*
Every lunch menu day gets a fun AI-generated illustration (see [Lunch Menus](/help/admins/lunch-menus)). This section
lets you nudge its art style — enter a short phrase describing the look you want (e.g. "bold
comic-book style" or "soft watercolor") and click **Save**. Leave it blank to use the factory default
(a colorful, cheerful, kid-appropriate illustration). Click **Reset to Default** at any time to clear
a custom style back to the factory look. Changing this only affects images generated from now on — it
does not regenerate any day's existing image; use the **Regenerate Image** button on that day's menu
(see [Lunch Menus](/help/admins/lunch-menus)) if you want an already-generated image to pick up the new style.

**SwiftUI app:** the same Lunch Image Style control is available under School Settings, Senior Admin
only, matching the web behavior exactly.

## Categories *(Senior Admin only)*
The list of categories you can give a document or a notice - **Policy**, **Forms**, **Admissions**,
**Athletics**, **Transportation**, **Academic** and **General** to start with. Parents see a category as
a colored label on each document and notice, and as filter buttons above the Document Library and
Notices lists. The same list is shared by documents and notices, so "Athletics" is the same color in both.

- **Add:** type a name under **New category**, optionally pick a color, and click **Add category**. Names
can be up to 40 characters and must be unique (capital letters don't count as different).
- **Rename:** click **Rename** beside a category, edit the name, and click **Save**.
- **Color:** pick one from the color list beside the category (it includes **Viridian**, a gray-green,
**Rust**, a brown-tinged orange, and **Phthalo**, a deep green, besides the bright standard colors).
**Automatic** lets the app choose a steady color from the name. Label text is always a darker shade of
the color so it stays easy to read.
- **Reorder:** use **Up** and **Down**. This is the order the categories appear in the pickers.
- **Delete:** click **Delete**. If the category is in use, the confirmation tells you how many documents
and notices use it. Deleting a category never deletes them - they simply become uncategorized.

Junior Admins can choose a category when they write a document or notice, but cannot change this list;
the section is hidden from them.

## Data Export *(Senior Admin only)*
Download your school's own data — roster, guardians, registration allowlist, memberships (role
assignments), staff directory, notices, documents, menus, audiences (including their grade and
organization targeting), calendar events, your organizations (so the organization ids in the other tables can be looked up), and organization results (scores and placements). Check the boxes for the tables you want (or **Select all**) and click
**Download Selected**: checking exactly one table downloads a single spreadsheet-friendly CSV file;
checking two or more downloads a ZIP file containing one CSV per table. In every CSV, a cell that starts with
`=` or `@` is written with a leading apostrophe (for example `'=SUM(A1)`) so a spreadsheet shows it as text instead
of running it as a formula; importing the file back into the app removes that apostrophe again. A cell starting
with `+`, `-` or a tab gets the same apostrophe unless it is a plain number or phone number: phone numbers like
`+1 (555) 123-4567` and scores like `-2` are left exactly as they are, but text such as `+HYPERLINK(...)` or
`- see note` is written as `'+HYPERLINK(...)` / `'- see note`.

Private parent data — notes, stars, and lists — is **never** included, even though it belongs to
families at your school; it's treated as private to each parent, with no admin visibility anywhere
in the product, exports included. This section is only visible to Senior Admins; Junior Admins and
parents cannot reach it.
